High temperature Eddy Current Sensor

Introduction

Eddy current displacement sensor from messotron

In the late 1960s, Prof. Dr. Alfred Henning experimented with various industrial technologies, from vacuum technology through to vibration engineering, and all the way to measuring technology. Messotron emerged from this experience in 1973 with an increasing focus on linear position measurement technology for industrial and scientific applications. What began as a small-scale business developed into an internationally-recognized company with “Made in Germany” products thanks to extraordinary customer-orientation and flexibility, as well as continually proven quality and a growing customer base.

The continuous development has been sustained even since the passing of Dr. Henning in 1997. Besides focusing on inductive displacement/position measuring technology, in 2007 the company took over the Hamburg company, “Sensorie,” thereby establishing the perfectly complementary field of eddy current measuring technology.

Today the company philosophy is still based on the nearly unrivalled experience and flexibility in the time and cost optimized design and production of application-specific displacement/position sensor technology established over decades, from one-off items and prototypes to OEM series.

Eddy Current Sensor

The continuously measuring eddy current sensors are intended for analog determination of distance and/or position of electrically conductive objects. The contact-free measuring principle is not sensitive to contamination from non-conductive media and is especially well-suited for use in harsh industrial environments.

Special electronics (eddy current converter) converts the sensor values altered by the object being measured into an analog output signal proportional to the distance of the object (e.g. 0...10 V or 4...20 mA).

Eddy current sensors with integrated electronics can be used in standard industrial applications.

High-temperature (HT) proximity sensors are available for environments with high temperatures and for applications which require measurements with a high dynamic range. In that case, separate electronics are needed.

With the MESSOTRON HT eddy current measuring chains, which come from the factory completely calibrated, service-friendly plug & play solutions are offered which reduce the installation effort to a minimum.
